Melanie Howard is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in the pages of SELF, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, Parenting and other major magazines.
Her first experience with tennis earned her a D in 10th grade gym class.
"I went to see my teacher after class and told her I didn't think I was that much worse at tennis than everyone else. She replied 'Obviously, I do.' Although I still lack a forehand and a first serve, I somehow manage to win a lot of matches. I can't decide if it's my grit and determination, or if I'm just so bad it throws my opponents off."
After years of believing she would someday write the Great American Novel, Melanie decided to write Queen of the Court with her friend and tennis partner Andrea Leidolf instead. "There are plenty of great novels out there; I think what people really need is a good laugh."
